Julie Brown in Concert

September 19, 1991

A Concert for the late Joy Potter

The University of Texas Student Union

The Story

Julie was taking Italian at the time when she was an undergraduate at The University of Texas. The head of the Italian Department, Joy Potter, passed away unexpectedly, and Julie was asked by Karen Potter, Joy's daughter, to participate at a memorial held in Joy's  held at the Student Union at The University of Texas at Austin. This was one of Julie's finest moments. Her voice in 1991 was quite different from what it is today. Experience the wonderful freshness of a young singer's voice, then listen to the maturation of Julie over the years. Surely you will experience the change and recognize that Julie has one of the most spectacular voices of our times. You can download these high quality mp3 files that were taken from an audio track of the recording of her performance. Julie was taking Italian for her opera from Antonella Olsen a professor of Italian, and her teacher suggested that Julie sing for Joy's daughter, Karen Potter. This was a great success and Julie with her beautiful voice, really gave a stellar performance.
