New
In Mourning and Remembrance
of September 11
an original composition and song by Julie Brown and R. Malcolm Brown, Jr.

The
Story
By now, September 11 is firmly etched in
the minds of every American and probably most of the world. That same week in
2001, I composed a soprano melody expressing my sadness of this tragic day for
America. The accompaniment was then integrated by my dad on the Roland KR-1070
digital electronic grand piano and added to the melody line track using Cool
Edit Pro software.

Bumble Bee

Coloratura Classics was made in three sessions starting October 3, 1997 at The Production Block Studios, Inc. 906 E. Fifth St. Austin TX 78702 Phone: (512) 472-8975 Fax: 476-5635 . The recording engineer was Brian Standefer, a classical musician himself (a cellist) who knows and understands the nuances and specifics of recording classical music. Brian is shown below at the recording console getting things ready.
Then the recording session began. Julie was in a separate room with
earphones, and her pianist, Brooks Whitmore
was in another room. Their only communication was via earphones.
Here is Brooks Whitmore examining his piano
score as he listens to a recording.

Remastering of Coloratura Classics
The
Story
Since the original recording of Coloratura
Classics in 1997, there have been advances in digital recording technology.
With the better software and
editing capabilities, it is now possible to greatly improve the recordings made
nearly 7 years ago. My dad uses "Cool Edit Pro" and has been able to
tone down the piano which was not recorded so well in the original. I hope that
you will enjoy these remasterings. They are made with the highest mp3 settings
VBR from Cool Edit. Just click on the corresponding numbers below to
play/download the remastered recording. Enjoy!
