5. Summary
This brief report covers an electron microscopic
analysis of a lepidopterous cutworm (Noctuidae) showing by negative
staining, long virus threads which appears to be unique among
viruses (DNA). The possible replication process is suggested.
Dr. Kenneth Smith worked for several years at the Cell Research
Institute at The University of Texas, and he and Dr. Brown collaborated
on a number of virus papers. This was the first of a series of
a fruitful collaboration.
